It's been a while since my last post, but now I'm back on track. I have a lot of new stuff just waiting to be shown, just give me a couple days to get my camera form the repair and I'll try to catch up with more or less regular publications. Meanwhile few not so good pics of my finished german squadron for Blood Red Skies. 

Minęło trochę czasu od ostatniej publikacji, ale teraz wracam do gry. W międzyczasie sporo malowałem i mam dużo rzeczy, które tylko czekają by je pokazać, dajcie mi tylko kilka dni na odebranie aparatu z naprawy, a ja postaram się wrócić do bardziej regularnego blogowania. W tak zwanym międzyczasie nienajlepsze fotki mojej gotowej eskadry do Blood Red Skies.

Rubicon Models Log Fence set #1

I bought those way back in may, but after painting them I never managed to finish the bases etc. until now, so here they are. As I mentioned in an unboxing i did, they are really great and well worth the price. 

Kupiłem te płotki jeszcze w maju, ale po pomalowaniu nigdy nie zabrałem się za ich wykończenie, aż do teraz. Jak wspominałem w unboxingu, zestaw jest naprawdę świetny i wart swojej ceny.

UNBOXING Guild Ball Ratcatchers Team

I played Guild Ball for the first time about two years ago and liked the game very much, but at the time there was no proper community and you had to order the miniatures from abroad. Now things are completely different, local community is big (and still growing), I can buy everything I need at my local game store and my love for the game is even bigger. I won't lie, GB is my favourite game at the moment, I play it whenever I can so be prepared to see few related blog posts soon.

Pierwszy raz zagrałem w Guild Ball'a jakieś dwa lata temu i bardzo mi się ten system spodobał, ale w tamtym czasie nie istniało jakieś porządne community, a figurki trzeba było ściągać z zagranicy. Teraz trochę się pozmieniało, lokalna społeczność jest duża (i ciągle rośnie), wszystko do gry mogę kupić na miejscu, a moja miłość do gry jest jeszcze większa. Nie będę tu oszukiwał GB jest obecnie moją ulubioną grą i charatam w gałę kiedy tylko mogę, więc przygotujcie się na kilka tematycznych wpisów w przyszłości.

I chose Ratcatchers as my first guild mainly because they are cast in plastic, have pretty intresting playstyle and look cool. The nice feature of the box is that you can see the minis inside, and that really helped me to make my choice,

Wybrałem Szczurołapów jako moją pierwszą gildię głównie dlatego że są odlani w plastiku, mają ciekawy styl gry i wyglądają bardzo ładnie moim zdaniem. Fajną cechą pudełka jest okienko przez które można podglądnąć modele przed zakupem, ułatwiło to mój wybór.

Inside the box you'll find all the essential  things for Ratcatchers: miniatures, goal post, all the tokens, health counters and even a pice of terrain. The white sprue is perfect for carrying minis around as they fit perfectly and it won't scrap the paint off.

W środku znajduje się wszystko co potrzebne Ratcatcherom do gry: figurki, bramkę, wszystkie potrzebne żetony, liczniki zdrowia, a nawet mały element terenu. Biała wypraska (wydmuszka?) jest idealna do przenoszenia modeli, pasują one do wnęk idealnie i nie powinny się odrapać z farby.

Nice thing about Guild Ball is that you can play it completely free. The rules, tokens, widgets and even player proxies are avalible at Steamforged website for free download.

Fajną cechą Guild Balla jest fakt że można w niego grać kompletnie za darmo. Zasady, żetony, templatki a nawet papierowe proxy figurek są do ściągnięcia ze strony Steamorged Games.

Tokens are printed on nice and sturdy cardboard that should withstand dozens of games. The health counters are a nice touch, altough i prefer to keep my cards in protectors and keep track of HP with dry-erease marker.

Żetony zostały wydrukowane na twardym kartonie, który powinien wytrzymać dziesiątki gier. Liczniki życia są ciekawą opcją, ale ja wolę klasycznie trzymać karty w koszulkach i suchościeralnym markerem zaznaczać damage.

Guild Ball cards were always looking beautiful, those aren't an exception. One thing I don't like about them are the corners, should have been rounded for durability.

Karty do GB zawsze wyglądały dobrze i te nie są wyjątkiem. Jedyną ich wadą są narożniki, moim zdaniem powinny być zaokrąglone.

I'm sorry for pic quality, but it's hard as hell to take good photos of black plastic. First impression of the minis is really pleasant, they are well cast, have a lot of details and even more character. When you look closely it gets better and worse at the same time. As I mentioned there are many nice details that add a lot of character and they "make sense" if you know what I mean. You can clearly see that designers put a lot of effort into each player, the poses, proportions and overall feeling is in my opinion great . Now the worst part. Miniatures come preassembled and are made of PVC plactic. I don't have the problem with the material itself, I think it's less prone to breaking than hard plastic, but it's so hard to clean mould lines form it and the colour doesn't help. Prepare for a lot of prep work.

Z góry przepraszam za jakość zdjęć, ale jest bardzo ciężko zrobić dobre zdjęcia czarnego plastiku. Pierwsze wrażenie jest naprawdę dobre, figurki są ładnie odlane, mają dużo detali i jeszcze więcej klimatu. Po dokładniejszych oględzinach jest jednocześnie lepiej i gorzej. Jak wspomniałem każda figurka ma masę świetnych detali, które dodają jej charakteru i "mają sens" jeśli wiecie co mam na myśli (to nie są po prostu czaszki w różnych miejscach). Widać na pierwszy rzut oka że projektanci włożyli dużo pracy w każdy model. Pozy, detale, proporcje i ogólne wrażenie jest moim zdaniem genialne. Teraz czas na wady. Figurki odlane są z miękkiego plastiku i zostały od razu złożone. Nie mam problemu z samym materiałem, wydaje mi się że jest bardziej odporny na złamanie niż twardy plastik znany z modeli, ale jest go bardzo trudno oczyścić z nadlewek, a kolor w tym nie pomaga. Jednym słowem trzeba przygotować się na sporo pracy podczas przygotowania do malowania.

Time for a quick summary. I think this box is worth it's price, expecially considering that you get a whole team (well without two reserve players form Morticians - Veteran Graves and Bonesaw) and all the needed tokes. My only cocern are the mould lines really, if at least the minis weren't glued together it would be pretty easy to get rid of them, but they are which makes some of them almost impossible to clean.

Krótkie podsumowanie na koniec. Zestaw jest moim zdaniem wart swojej ceny, szczególnie biorąc pod uwagę że dostajemy całą drużynę (bez dwóch rezerwowych z Mortician's Guild - Veteran Graves i Bonesaw) i wszystkie potrzebne żetony. Moim jedynym zastrzeżeniem są tak naprawdę te nieszczęsne linie podziału formy, gdyby modele nie były chociaż złożone byłoby stosunkowo łatwo się ich pozbyć, a tak usunięcie niektórych z nich graniczy z cudem.

LORD OF THE RINGS Nazgul #1

I have painted a lot miniatures over last few weeks, but my camera broke, hence the lack of updates on blog recently. I hope I'll get it fixed soon. Meanwhile I found this guy in my old photos. I remember I painted him to get a break from Vikings for Saga, quick and simple paintjob. Base was done in a way to suit my Harad warband.

Pomalowałem ostatnio naprawdę dużo figurek, ale zepsuł mi się aparat, stąd brak postów na blogu ostatnio. Mam nadzieję że uda mi się go w najbliższych dniach naprawić. W międzyczasie znalazłem wśród moich starych zdjęć, tego gościa. Pamiętam że malowałem go jako przerywnik między Wikingami do Sagi. Podstawka wykończona tak by pasowała do mojej bandy Haradu.

UNBOXING Blood Red Skies starter set + Adolf Galland ace set

I finally found enough time to do a proper unboxing of this game. I think it will be a grat addition to my Bolt Action games and of course as a standalone system.

Nareszcie znalazłem czas by zrobić porządny unboxing tej gry. Myślę że sprawdzi się zarówno jako dodatek do Bolt Action i jako osobny system.

The box size is pretty standard for Warlord Games (the same size as Test of Honour, but lower) and in my opinion looks really nice, the front art is very atmospheric and on the back there is a list of the content.

Pudełko ma standardowy jak na startery od Warlord Games rozmiar (taki sam jak Test of Honour, ale delikatnie niższy) i wygląda bardzo ładnie, grafika na froncie jest mega klimatyczna. Na odwrocie znajdziemy listę komponentów.

Inside the you can find a clear plastic sprue which holds the planes, cards and booklets. The design of rulebooks, cards and other accesories is in my opinion splendid, I like that retro style, it's clear and suits the game perfect.

W środku znajduje się wypraska z przeźroczystego plastiku, która trzyma samoloty, karty i książeczki. Grafika i układ instrukcji, kart i innych akcesoriów jest moim zdaniem śliczna, bardzo podoba mi się ten retro styl i pasuje do gry jak ulał.

Bases are nice and sturdy, I think they will withstand years of gaming and changing level of advantage. I especially like the dice, I think I'll use them in other games, they are super cool. When it comes to the stickers, I think they are worst part of the whole kit, I'll wait for proper decals to use instead (they are already  avalble on Warlord Games site).

Podstawki są porządnie wykonane, wytrzymają lata grania i zmieniania poziomu przewagi. Szczególnie podobają mi się kostki, myślę że będę ich używał w innych grach. Jeśli chodzi o naklejki na samoloty to są najsłabszym elementem zestawu, wolę poczekać na porządne kalki (są już dostępne na sklepie Warlorda).

Two reference sheets, one for each player was a great move, they are handy, have all the important info on them and also they look very nice. Cardboard tokens and "scenery" is pretty standard, decent quality. To be honest I'm not a big fan of tfatmeasure stick it's not very handy when using in a "crowded" area.

Dwa arkusze ze skrótem zasad dla każdego gracza to bardzo dobry ruch, są poręczne, zawierają wszystkie najważniejsze informacje no i dobrze wyglądają. Kartonowe tokeny i "tereny" są standardowej porządnej jakości, nic nadzwyczajnego. Nie jestem tylko fanem tej miarki, średnio sprawdza się w "zatłoczonych" miejscach stołu.

Now the most important (at least for some of you) part - planes. What I like about them is the fact that they are reasonably detailed for this scale (1:200) and you can achieve very nice results that can be seen on a table. At first I wasn't sure about those big gaps beetwen different panels, but after trying to paint them I think they look good treated with a pin wash.

Czas na najważniejszą (przynajmniej dla części czytających) rzecz - samoloty. To co najbardziej w nich lubię to fakt że są rozsądnie uszczegółowione jak na taką skalę (1:200) i można malowanie uzyskać bardzo fajny efekt widoczny na stole. Na początku nie byłem pewny tych dużych przerw między poszczególnymi panelami, ale po pin washu wyglądają dobrze.

As you can propably see many of the planes have warped wings. It looks like they were pushed too hard into the sprue and stayed that way. The simplest solution is to put them in hot water for few seconds, straighten them, and then toughen them in cold water. I did this to my minis, and now they look perfect. There are also some mould lines that need some care, but nothing too drastic.

Jak widać, wiele samolotów ma powykręcane skrzydła. Wygląda jakby zostały siłą wepchnięte do wypraski i tak już zostało. Najprościej wyprostować je w ciepłej wodzie, a potem zahartować zimną. Zrobiłem to na wszystkich modelach i wyglądają teraz idealnie. Oprócz tego jest trochę nadlewek którymi trzeba się zająć, ale nic strasznego.

Now it's time for German ace - Adolf "Dolfo" Galland. To keep this unboxing short I'll just write that everything in this small box is the same quality as things in the starter set, it's just another plane witth few unique cards.

Na koniec niemiecki as - Adolf "Dolfo" Galland. By nie przedłużać napiszę tylko że wszystko w tym małym pudełku to w zasadzie to samo co w starterze, po prostu dostajemy kolejny samolot z kilkoma unikalnymi kartami.

My overall impression of the kit is good, I absolutely love the graphic design and general feel of the game, if only the planes weren't so warped I would give this set a perfect note.

Moje ogólne wrażenia są dobre, niesamowicie podoba mi się oprawa graficzna i cała otoczka, gdyby tylko samoloty nie były takie pokręcone to dałbym idealną notę.
